Hidden The Hidden Saga Book 1 eBook Serina Hartwell Lindsay Kendal Graphics Jodi TJS Literary Editing Reviews
I saw this book advertised and the storyline jumped at me , so I downloaded it to my kindle.
It's a book that keeps you there , keeps you reading because you need to know what will happen next , you just become so involved with Bronte and her friends during the bullying.
You just want Regan to get her just deserts...........BUT i am saying nothing.
Serina takes you from excitement to hope to OMG!!!!!!!
It's a book that has left me screaming for more.............
Hidden is definitely a novel that takes you by surprise. Not at all like all of the other novels that are being released today. I found myself completely engrossed while reading and sooner rather than later I was completely finished with the book, I am very excited for more literature to come from this author and if you're smart you will for sure be on the watch for Ms. Serina Hartwell.
I would recommend Hidden by Serina Hartwell to any age range interested in strong characters, intriguing fantasy concepts and a sturdy, well-paced plot. It is probably aimed at tween/teens, who should read it; this is a good, strong story of people worth believing in. I liked in particular how immediately you care about the characters and sense there is more depth to the relationships to come in the trilogy.
The book hooked me, I read it quickly, and it kept my interest. Set in Yorkshire, the most beautiful place in England, where the people are beautiful and tough, this book does justice to my hometown, the people and the history, as well as the folklore. The blend of culture, the mill-speak beside American slang was quirky and real at the same time. I rate Bukowski and Lessing most highly, just to give you context.
I have never read Twilight (I have kept up with literary commentary however, and am one of those feminists too so…) the subservience of Bella is in stark contrast with Bronte from Hidden. I want bite from female characters, and Hidden gives that in great spoonfuls! Bronte has no self-pity, she is so much wiser than poor Bella; I wish I could swap every copy of Twilight for Hidden and help women have more faith they can achieve things themselves. Here is a female character I can appreciate, surrounded by refreshingly normal interactions, amid some strange goings-on, that help to define and engage her real personality. In Hidden is a young girl with powers; she is not waiting for a man to help her, but she loves too, and that is real. Her Grandma kicks ass also.
Not sure what to buy a young boy or girl for fear of nasty suggestions? Buy them Hidden.
Well done Serina. Wonderful first book. Keep them coming!
Bronte is a normal girl until the day she and her best friend Riley take a dare to enter a deserted house. Bronte falls through the broking flooring, is seriously injured, and experiences death. She meets her grandfather who tells her to go back to earth and live a long healthy life. He says she is very special. When she wakes, it feels like a vivid dream, but she has changed. Bronte can move objects just by thinking about it, can control the weather, and begins to "travel" in her dreams.
After she almost died, Riley realizes that he loves her. During an emotional moment, he kisses her and is later too embarrassed to continue being friends. It hurts Bronte. As her powers grow she is told the truth about her existence by her Grandmother and she learns to use her powers. She really is a very special girl.
I was impressed with this story. It is well-written and the creative imagination of Serina Hartwell is truly talented. The moments of magic were clearly written with the emotions and thoughts of Bronte giving it realism. I look forward to the next book and hope it comes soon!
Hidden by Serina Hartwell is a supernatural coming-of-age novel featuring Bronte Hughes, a young girl who finds herself conflicted by the trials and tribulations that face all children of her age. Only the author’s prologue gives us a quick peek into the ensuing conflict, letting us know up front that this isn’t your average young adult yarn. Altercations with Regan, the neighborhood bully, lead Bronte along with her puppy love Riley and their friends to the Old Nelson tree not far from spooky Farrow’s Mill. Bronte takes a dare and suffers an accident that results in a supernatural encounter with her dead Grandpa. Eventually Grandma Salvador reveals the significance of the event, and Bronte finds that her life mission lies far beyond the material world.
Hartwell carefully sets up the conflict facing Bronte as she portrays the enduring friendships with Marcy and Kelsey, the heartbreak of seeing Riley and Sophie come together, and the doting encouragement of her parents Angelina and Adam. Only an offer of travel to Ireland portends the winds of change ahead, and when Bronte learns the secret of the Wiritslo, it is full steam ahead. Her true destination awaits in Lertainia in the distant world of Naveeha, and suddenly Grandma Salvador becomes her spirit guide and mentor as she confronts her true destiny. The author has us set up for the sequel, and Princess Bayer beckons us along.
For those who enjoy the human element in their tales of magic and mystery, Hidden by Serina Hartwell is one you won’t want to miss.
I was introduced to this book by my friend in England, who is friends with the author. I find it very enjoyable reading and find myself captivated by the story line.
This author did well with a fresh story and fantastic descriptive writing. I was hooked in the first chapter finishing the book in one sitting.
