I was somewhat disappointed with the lack of emotional feelings between the two characters. Don't get me wrong... I realllly like this book, but most of it was about sex, nothing personal between the two of them. I would have liked to see the development of the relationship further into their future. That is the ONLY reason I am giving this book 4 stars. I read one of the 1 star reviews and the person was bashing the book bc the H purchased the h as a slave, all tho he never raped her and offered her a chance to return home. I mean really... did you go into this book thinking it was going to be all hearts and flowers????? Now.....

I LOVE a good dark erotic romance novel, but you people that have been giving these AMAZING books bad reviews just because they are dark are really P¡AS!ng me off!!!! You know it's going to be dark going into the book!!!! I always read the 1 & 2 star reviews before I start a book just so I know what I'm getting into, and almost all of the books that are somewhat dark ppl are leaving crappy reviews! I completely understand everyone has a right to their own opinion, but I hate to see some d@mn good books getting such bad reviews because you didn't read the narrative and get an idea of what you are buying. I am sorry if my ranting offended some of you, but just like you, I have a right to my own opinion. Thank you!

First off this is a dark romance, it covers a relationship that for sure doesn't not start out like others. Two people that get off or should I say need Pain mixed with Pleasure in there sexual pleasures. If you don't like ruff, pleasure brought on by pain then this is your type of story. But let me.say there is not blood or cutting as some get off on that. You find two.people that come from different types of life but needing the same thing to be sedate in their life and in sex. I did like this story it brings two people together and one thing they don't realize is they need each other and crave the touch and pleasure each gives and even find meaning in life with each other.
Holly Molly!!!!!!!!!!!What a read!!!!!!!!!Loved it!!!!!!!!!!!This is my first book from this author,and glad i met her and her work..Author Jenika Snow,delivered a amazing story,and did not disappointed me specially i did not know her books,I went completely blind and so glad i took my chance with her...Soon i started it and reading it,this tale took me where i could not put it down.i was so into the story line....Deep very deep into it...So i can tell she nailed it and i was hooked bad.....You will find sex,graphic contents,no romance,desire yes,dark side/light,not an easy life, and i suggest to read the warning also. and much more..Its well written,flow easy to follow the development of the story,well characters Gavin & Ruby,they just connected with theirs wants,desires,passions,choice,.....they are fit for each either...i really had deep feeling for them both until the end.....I'm so happy i came across to find Author Jenika Snow and will make sure i read more about her books.....Keep them coming cos now i'm on the next installment.... I will for sure read more of her work....Well Done!!!!!!!!!!!!!! one more thingthis is not a cup of tea or vanilla play,just to let you know but if you love dark dark romance well this is just for you and for sure i will suggest to readers who can handle a story like this one!!!!!!!!!!!I did and LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!more please!!!!!!!!!!
I have read a couple of this author's erotica/romances and they are pretty well written and very steamy. She calls this one "not as dark" as some might expect it to be and this version has an HEA ending (unlike many other kidnap/sold books I have read) although Ruby, the young woman taken and sold to the highest bidder, goes through many changes before she gets to find her happiness.
Gavin, the wealthy sadist who buys her, of course falls in love with her and after a few intense encounters, things take a turn from dark to melodramatic and almost sweet.
I didn't "love" this one or find anything particularly unique about it, but no doubt this author knows how to write some steamy erotica and it was really intense. I found myself sweating and feeling all sorts of tingles while reading some parts...and at least this novella had plenty of lightness and some emotional moments to counteract the harsh cruelty that was found in others. A good one if you want a short read with a mix of light and dark.
